ANTI-AGING MEDICAL TREATMENTS

Wrinkle Treatments

To better understand why wrinkles are formed on the skin of our face, it would be good to know some elements concerning the anatomy of our skin.

    Skin Anatomy

The skin covers our whole body as well as our face, it is a particularly complex organ. Its outer layer is the epidermis, right below there is the dermis, and finally the subcutaneous tissue.

In the epidermis, the cells are constantly renewed. The dermis can be said to support and hold the epidermis. It consists of collagen and elastin fibers that make it firm. Collagen has the property to internally fill the wrinkles.

Over the years, all these very sensitive balances change. Collagen becomes less, elastin changes, cells stop reproducing at the same rates. The result of these changes is the appearance of wrinkles on the epidermis as well as the loss of its glow.

    Skin aging can be:

    • Endogenous Aging are the damages that appear due to genetic factors or due to natural wear.
    • Photoaging is the aging caused by all external factors such as the sun, ultraviolet radiation, etc.
    • Hormonal Aging occurs mainly in women due to a decrease in estrogen. For example, during menopause, which causes dryness in the skin and a reduction in its elasticity.
    • Muscular Aging begins around the age of 34. The repeated movements of our facial muscles cause contractions of our epidermis. Over the years, the skin loses its ability to recover from these contractions. Thus, wrinkles begin to be visible even when the facial muscles are at rest.
    Wrinkles also have categories.
